Everything You Need to Know About the SantaMedical Electronic Pulse Massager

Tens Units and the SantaMedical Electronic Tens Pulse Massager

In this review we will discuss the specs and facts regarding the SantaMedical Electronic TENS Pulse Massager. Some people do not like the typical treatments they are given to relieve pain, especially back pain. Finding an alternative that is portable, healthy, easy to use and generally effective can be hard for some people, but tens units present a great solution.

Many people seek an electronic pulse machine for pain.

The SantaMedical TENS Electronic Pulse Massager is rated #4 under the Muscle Stimulators & Accessories category of Amazon’s top rated products. Though not the best rated electronic pulse massager, the SantaMedical LFM-110 is an electrotherapy pain relief device that does have many redeeming qualities.

It can be compared to several other models made by different brand-name companies. I will mention these later in this article.

This product is a pocket-sized, battery-operated TENS machine. It works by sending electrical currents, at a low voltage, along the nerve fibers to diminish pain. It has a number of options and accessories that I think make it one effective and adaptable alternative to pain relief.

SantaMedical Electronic Tens Pulse Massager - Features

3 Massage Styles and 6 Modes

6 Pre-set TENS Programs and 3 Modes

Six Auto Modes- The LFM-110 features six automated stimulation modes for simple and pre-programmed massages. These include target massages for areas such as the waist, shoulder, joint, hand, foot and sole. I have seen some reviews, however, that suggest the intensity of these modes is less than you’d hope to get with a unit such as this.

Three Massage Styles- In addition to the six auto stimulation modes there are three modes which are designed to address your specific pain type; knead, beat, and massage. You will love this feature because you may have pain that can't be fixed with one specific style but another may work.

Dual-Channel

Dual Channel & Use with two Pads or four Pads

I like the versatility of this electronic pulse machine in the way that it is a dual channel device. This allows for ease in treating two targeted areas at the same time. Of course, many devices on the market are dual channel, but this is still an important feature to keep in mind.

Intensity Levels and Speed

10 Levels of Intensity

With a comprehensive arrangement of buttons, the LFM-110 has two knobs (aside from the other settings) located on the front panel. These knobs allow you to adjust the intensity and speed of the specific mode you have selected. After a long, slow day, a softer slower massage, but after some really strenuous work, a deep and moderate speed may make you feel much better.

The intensity range is between 0-80 volts. The pulse rate or speed may also be adjusted, and this makes it easier for you to find a comfortable massage.

Easy to Use

SantaMedical Electronic Tens Pulse Massager - Usage

The LFM-110 has numerous options that allow you to adapt your massage to your needs, and this has made it a satisfactory device for many individuals. Coupled with this is the comprehensive arrangement of the buttons and clear LCD screen to guide you through your pain relief. The LCD screen indicates battery life, duration of your last treatment session, area selected for massage, and all other selected options.

Each mode is represented with its own stand-alone button. Speed and intensity level, on the other hand, have a pair of buttons clearly indicated on the device. They are easy to adjust as you operate the unit.

Considering the fact that the device is a handheld it is pretty small, and I’m sure you are wondered how difficult it is to navigate the different buttons. The only issue you might find in this area is the size of the LCD screen, which is rather small.

The instructions should help immensely with any confusion.

Mobility and Size

SantaMedical Electronic Tens Pulse Massager - Size Comparison

This handheld machine is efficient in its compact nature (5.3oz) even with the added accessories. It is a few pounds heavier (8.0oz) after loaded with its battery. The exact dimensions are: 2.25”W x 7.75”L x 7/8” H.

Most of what you would need in order to use this device is nicely contained within the device itself. This obviously makes it very easy to move about. It is a lot like your television remote but even easier.

Those certain accessories (such as the SantaMedical Electronic Pulse Massager pads and two lead wires) that are not contained within the device are still easy to arrange in a portable manner. I could even see this fitting in a purse or small handbag with ease; ultimately it's very portable.

Despite the small size, this SantaMedical Electronic Tens Pulse Massager contains quite a bit of power according to reviews.

Power Supply

This device requires four AAA batteries. In selecting a battery, keep in mind that this device is made for high-intensity and long durations of treatment (power consumption of DC 6V). Choosing a powerful battery can improve the function of this device.

When this device gets low on energy it will notify you on the screen.

One disadvantage is, of course, that you cannot plug this tens physical therapy machine into a wall and charge it that way. Many people prefer rechargeable lithium batteries.

What's in the Box?

SantaMedical Electronic Tens Pulse Massager - Accesories

This unit comes included with four SantaMedical electronic pulse massager pads and two lead wires. I found that the lead wires should be replaced soon after you get the device due to how frail and feeble they are. The type of pads are self-stick hypoallergenic.

You will also receive four AAA batteries to get you started, and of course an instruction manual. You can also find an online manual here:

90 Day Warranty

90 Days Warranty

I hate going to the store and purchasing something I need, then I go home, use it a few times and it breaks; but upon arriving at the store to replace it or take it back, I hear the words: no warranty. The good news is that most tens units on the market have warranties.

When you purchase the LFM-110 it will come with a 90 day standard warranty. SantaMedical offers the same warranty with all of their electronic pulse massagers.

It is a decent warranty when you consider other products on the market. I have seen devices which offer a one-year or lifetime warranty, but that is somewhat rare.

Price Range

The price of a LFM-110 is in the mid-range among products in the TENS market.

Keep in mind that SantaMedical Electronic Pulse Massagers are not available at your local Walmart or Walgreens, like some of the other brand name devices.

The prices on amazon.com may fluctuate so you will have to see what deals they are currently offering. You can find it at the manufacturer website for $59.95, it is $35.50 at sears.com, and $38.50 at caputron.com. One of the best prices I have found was $29.95 at overstock.com.

As with essentially every tens machine, you will also have to purchase replacement pads at some point—and, in this case, AAA batteries too.

Social Feedback

When you go through the SantaMedical LFM-110 reviews, you will see that almost every customer was happy about the quality they received for the price they paid. I have yet to read a review that mentions dissatisfaction with the price.

Obviously this device will have some downsides considering that it can be found for relatively cheap. Units that cost more will typically have more features and fewer bugs.

The most commonly mentioned downside of this product was that the first two or three intensity levels were too weak to feel. It is generally agreed that the last six levels of intensities were very powerful.

This is not an uncommon problem when using a tens unit for pain relief, especially if there are not enough levels to choose from.

Other Seemingly Identical Devices From Different Brands

It looks like that a manufacturer located outside the US sells the same tens device to several different distributors. Each distributor gives the unit a different name, but the details, specs, and hardware are all the same, because it is the same machine. The only differences are price and reliability of the seller.

Listed as shown in side-by-side picture from left to right. Each rebranded unit is the same device from a different company.

PL-009- Same Model - Differemt Brands
  • TruMedic TENS Unit PL-009

  • PurePulse Electronic Pulse Massager
  • PurePulse TENS unit has some pretty good reviews which make it look fairly impressive. It also seems to be around the same price as the LFM-110.

  • Mapleaf Electronic Pulse Massager PL-009
  • Although it is more expensive than the LFM-110 you may be able to find it with free shipping. I have not seen a lot of reviews for this unit but they seem to be pretty favorable.

  • Easy@Home TENS Handheld Electronic Pulse Massager Unit
  • This device is generally about the same price as the SantaMedical LFM-110. It is quite liked among customers.

  • Sunpentown Electric Pulse Massager UC-570
  • One difference between this device and the LFM-110 appears to be the latex-free electrode pads. Otherwise it looks to be in about the same price range as the LFM-110 and it has quite a lot of good reviews.

The Bottom Line

The LMF-110 has many equivalents to choose from. It does seem to me that SantaMedical offers a pretty good medium, but you may be able to find the same device for less money. SantaMedical also offers two other devices that can only be found on overstock.com (PM-180, PM-120).
