We will explore relevant topics like specs, accessories, price, user reviews, and more. 6 Pre-set TENS Modes
20 Intensity Levels
Use with 2 Pads or 4 Pads
HealthmateForever HM6ML - Main Features
The six modes contained on this FDA cleared HealthmateForever massager are shown on the display screen in the form of a flower. Each mode is represented by the images of hands using different massage techniques on a back.
These specific modes are: Tunia (Push & Pull), Acupuncture, Tapping, Leg,Cupping?, and Combination.
The BM6ML also has six massage modes which are identical to the HM6ML.
The six massage modes on the HM6GL are: Tuina (Push & Pull), Acupuncture, Tapping, Guasha (Scraping), Body Building, Combination.
The BM6GL comes with six modes too: Tuina (Push & Pull), Acupuncture, Tapping, Guasha (Scraping), Body Building, Combination.
All of the tens machines from HealthmateForever are dual channel devices, however not all of them contain isolated channels. Having dual channels allows you to use four (or sometimes eight) pads rather than just two, but you cannot run separate programs on the channels.
HM6ML is a dual channel device but it does not have isolated channels, nor do the other units compared in this review.
20 Intensity Levels
As far as intensity levels are concerned, 20 is quite a range to choose from, and this is a big advantage to look for in a tens unit. Basically this means that you should be able to find a comfortable medium that works specifically for you and your unique needs.
Most of the other tens devices that I have seen do not have all that many intensity levels. The good thing about having such a variety is that you won't have to settle for a level that is too powerful or one that is too weak. Each level goes up or down with small increments so you can choose the most comfortable.
There is a timer which allows you to adjust your session anywhere from 10-60 minutes. Another thing I really like about this electrotherapy pain relief device is the fact that it has a pause button—that is something I don't think I have seen in many other tens devices.
Using the HM6ML
The unit has an easy to read backlit LCD display. This screen should tell you everything you need to know about your therapy session and settings. Considering the small size of the unit I imagine that the screen size could be difficult for some people to see, that depends on you—the screen is 1” x 1.25”.
I noticed that the device itself somewhat resembles an iPod Nano with a circular set of buttons below the screen. It has a very similar appearance to the HM6GL.
The BM6ML and BM6GL both share the same appearance and design as far as screen and buttons are concerned.
There are not too many buttons and overall the unit seems to me to be quite simple and straightforward. HM6ML and all other HealthmateForever tens units comes with a acupuncture placement point chart. You can also search the instructions if you are ever faced with a question about something, such as electrode placement.
Size and Portability
As I just mentioned the unit looks somewhat like an iPod, and in fact they are almost exactly the same size too. The second generation iPod Nano is 3.5” x 1.6” x 0.26” and the HM6ML is 3.25” x 1.5” x .25”. The device itself is only 1.1 ounces.
Like most other tens units this portable tens machine does not come with a carrying case, but this is something you may want to invest in.
Portable TENS Unit
Overall this device is quite tiny and it should be very easy to take with you anywhere.
The HM6GL is exactly the same size and weight as the HM6ML. The BM6ML is heavier at 13 ounces and about the same size at 3” x 1.5" x .5". The BM6GL has the same dimension of the BM6ML just mentioned but it is 1.1 ounces like the HM6ML.
Rechargeable Lithium Battery
This unit operates on a rechargeable internal lithium battery which can evidently last for up to 10 hours of use. Part of this will depend on what settings you choose, as some higher-powered options will drain the battery faster than others.
When it comes to battery life a lot of positive reviews claim that the unit can last a long time before having to recharge. A lot of people also love the fact that they don't have to go buy 9V or AAA batteries constantly.
Included in the Kit
When you open the box you will of course find your new device, along with 4 Piece self-adhesive reusable conductive gel pads, 2 sets of electrode wires (2.5mm plug), 1 pads holder, 1 USB Charger/Wall Charger, Operating Manual, Acupuncture placement point chart, Limited Life-Time Warranty Card, and a Free Educational Reference Booklet.
Right off the bat you will get every last accessory that you need in order to comfortably and easily operate this Healthmate tens machine. If you would like to purchase other accessories you may buy a range of different add-ons to suit your need. A few of them are: massage shoes, multi-belt, and the conductive wrist support wrap.
There are many other accessories too.
This unit includes a lifetime warranty, which is definitely one of the best warranties you can get on a tens unit. The warranty is limited, of course, and doesn't cover everything, but there is no time limit to make a claim on a defect in materials or workmanship.
This is a pretty good unit and offers a decent value for the price. The unit is sold at sears.com for $49.99 and the manufacturer site for $41.99. Amazon also sells the product and you could check their prices too.
On the manufacturer website the HM6GL, BM6ML, and BM6GL are all listed the same price which is $39.99. After you factor in shipping and tax they cost about the same as the HM6ML.
Eventually you will have to buy HealthmateForever replacement pads with all of these devices.
Healthmate Tens Unit Reviews
A few people have had issues with instructions and figuring out how to master the settings on the device, but generally reviews are quite positive. A couple reviews note that the current was not strong enough for them but most found the power quite sufficient. People say that the unit is quite powerful for its incredibly small size and it has offered them relief from pain.
